Watch out world! The Hanson and Wadholm girls hit the road Saturday night for a quick road trip to MSP!!! WHAT FUN!!!
We stayed at a Holiday Inn in Maple Grove! To all our family and friends there...we absolutely know we are more than welcome to stay with you, but Bryan has rewards points for Holiday Inns, so it was free! And with three children ages, 4, 3, and almost 2...it just seemed easier. And to be honest, Isabella, Veronica, and I LOVE staying in hotels. This was also our first road trip with Mindy and Gretchen, so it seemed like a super fun idea!
Since we were getting the room for free, I thought this would be a pretty basic Holiday Inn! Far from it! Quite swanky with one of the funnest water park/pool play areas ever!!! What fun! Here's a bit of a run down of our fun time!!!
*Great drive down with a fun stop at the gas station which found Veronica roaming the aisles in a leotard and two different shoes:) It also found me accidently activating the alarm on Bry's car, but we resolved that issue quickly:) We also enjoyed pumping up the girls for our adventure and led by Isabella they decided they would stay up all night for a party!
*We arrived to the hotel with great excitement as we realized how nice it was! We walked into our room and the girls immediately went to work checking it out. The phones were taken off the hook as they began their games of play, pretending to talk to people, 'checkin' schedules' as Isabella said, and more! The blow dryer in the bathroom was tested out by all, music was put on and the dance party began. Isabella checked out the refrigerator and proclaimed the freezer 'the ice cream refrigerator. Tickle fights were had under the covers of the hotel bed, elevator buttons were pushed as we went and toured the pool and a little story time helped to somewhat settle the crew down. My ladies were a bit wild in bed, but I'm guessing we fell asleep somewhere around the 11:30 p.m. hour...yikes...late for two little girls who are in bed by 8!!! Veronica has yet to ever really sleep with us, so it was fun to have her in bed with me and to see the way she naturally gravitated towards me in her sleep. I wish someone could have taken a picture of us...Isabella's head were at my feet for awhile, Veronica was nearly sideways and I was diaganol.
*6:30 a.m. - they're awake...all three of them...well, Gretchen probably would have slept longer if my girls hadn't been 'whispering' so loudly! That's ok, it just meant we were down at the pool at exactly 8 a.m. when it opened! Oh what fun!!! They had the funnest little kids water park. Two great little slides with lots of splash and a half foot of water to run/crawl around in. Veronica who loves to swim, but in new situations tends to cling to mom LOVED it!!! She didn't need me for a security blanket at all! Up and down up and down up and down the slides she went over and over and over again! Sometimes she would end up changing position as she came down and she'd land sideways and get her face in the water pretty good, one time she even ended up coming down head first. Normally this would result in massive crying chaos, but Mindy and I would just clap and cheer and she'd bust out in a smile and off she'd be, ready to go again! We took a break for a quick 'breakfeast' if you want to call it that...it wasn't exactly breakfeast food...oh well. Two bites in and Veronica was saying, "I go swimming, I go swimming"! SHE LOVED IT!!! Baby V is really coming into her own, getting braver step by step. It is so fun to watch her fully embracing things of this nature!!!
*And of course, time with my Mindy! What fun! My buddy, my buddy, my buddy, my buddy, my buddy and me!!! Remember Min, when we decided that 'buddies' was the highest form of friendship, it wasn't enough to just be best friends, you had to be best buddies:)?????? How wonderful to talk about everything and anything, to have tickle fights with our girls together, to hang out in pj's, to start the next generation of slumber parties and road trips. It is experiences such as this weekend that continuely keep me focused on the fact that it is people, memories, and experiences that truly bring us our greatest joys. I AM SO THANKFUL!!!!
